Issues We’re Tackling: Building a United, Thriving Omaha

Together We Can Achieve More

Omaha’s strength lies in its people, history, and potential. As your next mayor, Dr. TL Brewer will address the issues that matter most to our community, guided by his 30+ years of service, faith, and unwavering commitment to unity. Here’s how we’ll bring Omaha together:

I write about finance, management and economy, my book “Money Studies” is out now.

Unity & Community Cohesion

“A house divided cannot stand. Omaha’s future depends on bridging divides.” – Dr. TL Brewer

  • Policy Focus:
    • Launch “One Omaha” Town Halls to foster dialogue across neighborhoods, races, and generations.
    • Partner with faith leaders, schools, and community organizations to host cultural exchange programs and mentorship initiatives.
    • Create a Mayor’s Council on Unity, led by Dr. Brewer, to address systemic inequities and ensure all voices shape policy.

Economic Growth for All

“Prosperity isn’t just for the few—it’s a right for every Omahan.” – Dr. TL Brewer

  • Policy Focus:
    • Raise wages for college graduates by incentivizing local businesses to adopt fair pay scales and partner with universities for talent pipelines.
    • Attract high-tech industries and green energy jobs through tax breaks for companies that hire locally and invest in underserved areas.
    • Expand small business grants for women-, minority-, and veteran-owned enterprises.

Infrastructure & Public Services

“Safe roads, reliable transit, and clean water aren’t luxuries—they’re basics.” – Dr. TL Brewer

  • Policy Focus:
    • Fix Omaha’s streets with a 5-year, $200M infrastructure plan prioritizing equity (no more “forgotten” neighborhoods).
    • Modernize public transit with expanded bus routes and bike lanes to connect workers to jobs.
    • Invest in 24/7 snow removal and trash collection citywide.

Public Safety & Mental Health

“Safety starts with trust, not force.” – Dr. TL Brewer

  • Policy Focus:
    • Replace police response to mental health crises with trained social workers and counselors (saving $1M annually in ER costs).
    • Fund violence prevention programs in schools and community centers, focusing on mentorship for at-risk youth.
    • Add 100+ new officers while requiring de-escalation training and body cameras.

Inclusivity & Equity

“Diversity is our strength. Let’s make Omaha a model of belonging.” – Dr. TL Brewer

  • Policy Focus:
    • Enforce fair housing laws with audits to stop discrimination.
    • Create a Mayor’s Office of Equity to oversee policies impacting marginalized communities.
    • Expand ADA compliance in public spaces and workplaces.
